A woman was seen dead at Chalkwell beach in Essex.
Police were called to the beach around 10.15 am this morning, June 7, after people spotted the woman struggling in the water.
The Southend-on-Sea Coastguard, police, and paramedic teams were dispatched to Chalkwell beach instantly.
Sadly, the woman was obviously dead at the scene.
Essex Police confirmed in a statement: “We arrived and sadly found a woman had died. We will issue a further update when we can.”
Pictures show different police cars parked up by the beach, with dozens of people on the sand. An air ambulance was also found circling overhead.
A Coastguard spokesperson stated: “A 999 call was received at 10.10 am today [June 7] following the escapade at Chalkwell Beach.
“The Southend Coastguard Rescue Team, Southend RNLI lifeboat, Essex Police and the East of England Ambulance Service attended.”
