The Director of General Services of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Emmanuel Attah has congratulated the newly elected FCT Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, who won gallantly in their polls conducted at the NUJ FCT office last Friday.
The former Super Eagles Coordinator said he is elated to see the caliber of people in the executive committee adding that they’re capable of leaving a good legacy at the end of their first tenure.
“I want to congratulate the new SWAN Executive Members on your deserved election. In fact, I am elated to see the caliber of people in the executive committee.” Attah said.
The Director promised to revamp the FCT SWAN Football Competition by donating awards for the Championship aimed at uniting FCT SWAN.
“SWAN is about sports and not reporting alone, I know some few years back when I donated an award for SWAN Competition. It was very strong then, even other states try to copy and hosted the competition. That’s one area that interest me because it brings everybody together. The electronic, print and online media will register and play in the same Competition having fun.
I promise you that I will be there to support you by donating a trophy in revamping the SWAN Cup.
He added, “The Chairman (Bunmi Haruna) in particular, I know him very well and not surprised that he’s the chairman today. He’s somebody that’s very forthright. Remi Sulola, I know her very well we used to call her woman coach of Super Eagles. Chris Onokpegu, I know him too and even Maxwell Lawrence Nwachukwu, who is my person for a long by time. I can see a wonderful team and you people really deserve it.
“Bunmi, you have vibrant officers who are people with ideas. I want to thank you also for the visit. I challenge the new SWAN Executive to take the Association to the next level. I will urge you to carry everybody along particularly those who lost elections while contesting with you. The elders too, seek their advise, listen to them.
“As leader bring everybody together no matter what it may cost you. Be fearless in your reporting, you cannot satisfy everybody. You must step on toes but if you do and your conscience is clear, then carry on with your work.”
The FCT SWAN on Friday elected new Executive Committee Members who will lead the Association for the next three years.
